May 21th, 2015

On May 21st 2015, SPE Section Novi Sad organized presentation, held by SPE distinguished lecturer Mr. Kalus Potsch on the subject “Understanding and Checking the Validity of PVT - reports”.

Information about fluid properties is a required input for every stage in the oil and gas industry. Therefore, it is very important for different kind of disciplines within oil industry (reservoir, facility or corrosion) to understand volumetric behaviour of produced fluids.  Attention was drawn on tools for verifying the consistency of PVT data. Among them are mass balance, cross plots and Y-function for the constant composition experiments (CCE) and for the differential liberation experiment (DLE).

The objective of the lecture was to provide basic understanding of PVT parameters and process, which are necessary to conduct further calculations (3D simulations, designs of surface installations and transportation routes).

Apr 27th, 2015

On April 27th 2015, SPE Section Novi Sad organized presentation, held by SPE distinguished lecturer Mr. Jalal Abedi on the subject “Next - Generation of Energy Efficient, Low Water Usage – Heavy Oil Recovery Methods”.

Lecture was focused on in situ recovery methods for heavy oils such as cyclic steam simulation (CSS), steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD), vapour extraction (VAPEX) and Hybrid method (Steam + Solvent).

Attention was also drawn to weak links of the current steam-based processes such as high-energy consumption, the large emission of greenhouse gases and the large consumption of fresh water.

The objective of the lecture was to provide mechanistic insights relevant to the solvent/heat assisted recovery processes.

This knowledge is a prerequisite to the optimization of the solvent composition for the solvent injection processes.

Next lecture is planned to be held by Dr. Klaus Potsch on May 21st 2015 on the subject: “Understanding and Checking the Validity of PVT reports”.

Feb 26th, 2015

On February 26th 2015, SPE Section Novi Sad organized presentation, held by SPE distinguished lecturer Mr. David M. Anderson on the subject “Unconventional Reservoirs Require Unconventional Analysis Techniques”.

This presentation was focused on Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) as a technic that is applied to complex well geometry (directional drilling, well completion and well fracturing) in unconventional resource plays (particularly shale gas and liquids-rich shale plays).

Other specific techniques applied to unconventional reservoirs were presented — and the strengths, limitations, and applications were discussed.

These techniques were demonstrated using real field production data with emphasis on probabilistic approach, well completion and definition of reservoir properties range distribution.

Next lecture is planned to be held by Dr. Jalal Abedi on 27th April 2015 on the subject: “Next-Generation of Energy Efficient, Low Water Usage Heavy Oil Recovery Methods”
